FEFCO - Fédération Européenne des Fabricants de Carton Ondulé
This organisation is an association of European manufacturers of corrugated cardboard and is headquartered in Brussels.
The activities of this organisation include classification of corrugated fibreboard types and especially the FEFCO code of fibreboard designs. FEFCO classifies the packaging materials by manufacturing technology and structural similarity into eight groups; each type is identified with a 4-digit code.
The first two digits represent the style (0201 - Slotted box with abutting external flaps).
The second two digits represent the version (0201 - Slotted box with abutting external flaps).
Together with the standard comments, each design is provided with parameters which directly or indirectly affect the packaging price. These include especially:
- Erection: manual, machine, or a combination of both
- Jointing, i.e. type of box manufacturer joints: glued, stitched, or creasing
- Manufacturing with or without application of a die-cutter tool
